Location Scouting

Since I am primarily a location photographer, I am going to start a collection of places I will be able to take clients to shoot photographs.  I will tell a little about the park, show the scenery that can be used, and end with my personal notes about the location.  I will have this listed in the category section under Portrait Locations so they will be easy to find in the future.  Click on the pics for a larger view.

Hampton Pines Park

7800 Hampton Boulevard, North Lauderdale, Fl 33068

Hampton Pines Park is located off of McNab road bewteen S.W. 81st Avenue and Avon Lane.  The park is a 33-acre natural area that’s dedicated to the preservation of plant, wildlife habitat, environmental awareness and recreational enjoyment.  The natural setting has a 6-acre pond in the middle with a bike path, health and fitness trail with exercise stations and a walking path which all run through the nature preserve.  The park offers rentals of boat, bike and picnic shelters and also allows fishing in the pond.  Hours of operation are 10:00 a.m-8:00 p.m (May-October) and close at 6:00 November-April.

My notes for the park:  There are plenty of old bald cypress and slash pines throughout the park.  If you like mosquitoes, then this is the place to be at noon in June.  I recommend long sleeves and pants or a lot of bug spray.  There is a nice area with a white fence and ferns that can be used for portrait background scenery.  There are many spots with open areas among the cypress, tall grasses, and cedar paths.  Many types of lizards, birds. and, of course, squirrels.  There is plenty of parking.
